cattery Don Sphynx
Our cattery Psyche is orientated towards Don Sphynx breed, which bewitched us not only for its look, but also for its character.
Don Sphynx is a hairless breed of Russian origin. In the year 1987, in the city Rostov on Don has Elena Kovaleva found a cat, which loses her hair. Soon it was discovered that this lack of hair was not due any sickness but was unique, natural mutation. This cat was called Varvara and is the primogenitor of this new hairless cat breed named Don Sphynx. Cat Varvara had a dominant gene of hairlessness, and all of its descendents receive this gene.
Canadian sphynx has this gene variable.
The Don Sphynx cat is very intelligent and loyal to its owner, is temperamental, curious, playful and loving, it likes company, is very good in understanding human habits and speech, often answering with a meow. Its body temperature is higher than that of other cats, about
40 °C. Because of its unusual appearance, it is often called an "alien". It is interesting that the Don Sphynx does not see itself as a feline. This cat breed is well-suited for people who are allergic to cat hair.
